WHO WE ARE

MomsFirst, a program of the Cleveland Department of Public Health, is dedicated to improving maternal and infant health in Cleveland. We partner with local organizations to provide support to expectant mothers, dads, and families through case management, home visits, and supportive services. Lexington Bell Community Center serves the Cleveland community, focusing on family support, health, and education. Together, MomsFirst and Lexington Bell have partnered, creating the Cleveland Infant Vitality Community Consortium (CIVCC) to unite mothers, fathers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to reduce infant mortality.

WHY IT MATTERS

Cleveland has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country, impacting

mostly Black and Brown families. CIVCC aims to:

  • Reduce preventable infant deaths

  • Improve maternal health outcomes

  • Build a stronger, healthier community by addressing health disparities

WHAT WE DO

CIVCC works to reduce infant mortality in Cleveland through:

  • Expanding access to maternal health education and resources

  • Addressing social determinants of health that contribute to disparities in maternal and infant health

  • Driving systemic change to benefit families and children

when & where

CIVCC holds monthly meetings across the City of Cleveland.
